History of Artefact	The suitcase radios were made specially for allied secret agents in enemy occupied countries. The radio is contained within what looks like an ordinary suitcase so as to disguise what it actually is. It enabled the agent to keep in touch with the headquarters in England and to update on events. It was a risky object to carry around in case it was detected by the enemy. They could have been parachuted in or arrived on a small aircraft that would have landed in the night. This example was purchased from a collector. It is a Type 3 Mk.II suitcase radio, also known as the 'B2' type. It was the most widely used by the 'spy sets' and could operate from mains power or from its battery.
