It was from the Royal HMY Mary, belonging to King Charles II. It was wrecked off Anglesey in 1675. This cannonball is typical of the period. The yacht was presented to King Charles II by the Dutch in 1660. It was the first yacht in the Royal Navy. It was armed with eight 3 pounder cannons. They fired 3lb cannonballs. |
