‘I had an elderly friend, Mr.Penney, he lived on the corner of my road – I used to watch out for him. When he died, in the early 1980s, he left me all of these bits and pieces. He was in the navy and joined as a Naval Seaman. He left as a Petty Officer.’ The photograph was taken on the Iron Duke ship (nicknamed after the Duke of Wellington. |
